Ahead of World Children's Day and on the occasion of the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, Armenia has joined other countries of the world in lighting symbolic structures in blue—but this time with a new vision, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Armenia Office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

This year, the Great Wheel and the Mother Armenia monument at the Victory Park, as well as Matenadaran and the Research Center of Maternal and Child Health Protection were lit up. All this will symbolize what children need to grow up healthy and happy: joy and fun entertainment, protection and peace, education and culture, as well as health and nutrition in a family environment.

According to Christine Weigand, the Representative of UNICEF Armenia, it follows from the Convention on the Rights of the Child that childhood is a unique period worthy of protection.
