The conspiracy to split Iran and foment terrorism and civil war has failed in recent months, Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, Press TV reports.

According to him, the Foreign Ministry has documents at its disposal showing a conspiracy to foment terrorism and civil war in Iran and the collapse of the Islamic Republic.

He also rejected statements by some Western countries about the human rights situation, stressing that the West's "dark history" does not allow them to make such statements.

"We do not need America and Europe, which have a long history of human rights violations and a dark history regarding the exploitation of nations and countries claiming to protect human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran," Amir-Abdollahian said.

According to him, Germany, France, Britain, America and Israel do not have a proper understanding of events and incidents and therefore make "intrusive remarks."

"I clearly told European officials who claim to defend human rights that the police in Iran showed strategic patience and restraint during the recent riots," Amir-Abdollahian noted. "The fact that more than 50 law enforcers were killed by rioters with hot and cold weapons, and thousands more defenders of our security were wounded, demonstrates the commitment of law enforcers to human rights and restraint," he added.
