Residents of the Austrian village of Obritz complained to the police about children crying coming from a neighbor's house, a police squad found six young children in a fortified basement, the Daily mail reported.

The owner of the house tried to resist the police, he attacked them with pepper spray. When the man was restrained, he admitted that he had fortified the basement as a bunker and forced his wife and children, the youngest of whom is seven months old, to stay in it.

It turned out that the 54-year-old man was a proponent of a conspiracy theory about the possible end of the world, and in the basement he planned to save his family during the apocalypse.

The police report notes that the cellar had been remodeled: it had doors, windows, plumbing, electricity and security cameras. However, the sanitary conditions were deemed inadequate and unsuitable for children. Local authorities took the family into custody.
