Greece's Ministry of Culture and Sports said that Athens has applied to UNESCO for the inclusion of Mount Olympus in the list of World Cultural and Natural Heritage of this specialized UN agency.

The ministry noted that they made an application together with the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Greece.

Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Georgios Amyras expressed his hope that UNESCO will approve the application.
