The death toll from two earthquakes in Turkey rose to 3,381, more than 20,000 people were affected. Orhan Tatar, head of the Risk Minimization Department of Turkey's Emergency Management Authority, said this on local television Tuesday.

"So far we have 3,381 dead, 20,426 people affected. 5,775 buildings have been destroyed, another 11,000 structures have been reported damaged," he said.

Tatar added that 285 aftershocks have been registered in Turkey since the first strike, most of which were of magnitude 3 to 6.
