Company Tesla recalls more than 360 thousand cars because of problems in the beta version of the system of autonomous driving, The Verge reportd with reference to the release of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The 2016-2023 Tesla Model S and Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y fall under the recall. It is reported that the beta version of the autopilot feature allows the electric car to exceed the recommended speed, as well as drive through intersections in unpredictable ways, such as driving at a yellow traffic light or standing for a long time under a stop sign, even if the intersection is free. All of these situations increase the risk of accidents, according to NHTSA.

The Verge notes that the recall will be a software update issued by Tesla that will be installed free of charge in all of the vehicles listed above. It will not be necessary to physically withdraw electric cars from owners or from stores. It is known that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has already commented on the NHTSA release, noting that the word recall for a wireless software update is anachronistic and just plain wrong.
