Mercedes-Benz has announced the imminent debut of a new base model. Already this year will be shown a concept sedan, which can become the forerunner of the Mercedes-Benz CLA third generation, Motor reported.

In the near future, the A-Class and B-Class will be retired, and they will be replaced by a new model of the Entry Luxury family on the promising modular MMA platform. Series production of the new entry-level Mercedes will start next year.

Although Mercedes-Benz has planned a significant reduction in the lineup, the German brand's CEO Ola Kallenius confirmed that models with the three-beam star will remain in the compact segment as well. The forerunner of the Entry Luxury lineup will be revealed later: a concept sedan will be the embodiment of Mercedes' new entry-level vision.

Details are scarce, but we can say with certainty: the entry ticket to the world of Mercedes-Benz will become more expensive. The strategy of the German brand is to reduce the number of copies and increase the margin, so that very soon the Mercedes cheaper than 40 thousand euros will go into history.
