Maybe there will be an inflow of foreign currency in case of the operation of the Amulsar mine. Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia, Martin Galstyan, told this to a press conference Tuesday.

He added that in order to get a complete picture in this regard, all the components of Armenia’s balance of payments should be combined.

“As a result of this picture from the point of view of properly reacting to the events taking place in the financial market, we will continue the policy that we have implemented during those years," he said.

Turning to the question whether there is an inflow of foreign currency into Armenia’s economy due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, Galstyan answered: "We proceed from the fact that the exchange rate of the Armenian dram is free floating, and the Central Bank limits the intervention in the market by settling the irregular and problematic situations to a certain extent.

During the past year, we have encountered situations where the Central Bank intervened in the events taking place in the market by acquiring foreign currency, as a result of which our purchase from the financial market amounted to more than $900 million during the last year.
