Kia is recalling 99,000 new Sportages due to brake problems.

The South Korean car manufacturer found out that the Sportage system's hermeticity may be broken due to a defect in the diaphragm of the brake booster.

The problem was found in 98,944 crossovers of the fifth generation manufactured in 2022 and 2023.

The vehicles included in the risk group have already been identified, and Sportage owners will be notified of the need for an unscheduled visit to a Kia dealership starting July 21.

Kia did not elaborate on why the wrong vacuum brake boosters appeared on the crossovers.

It is known that 73 American owners of the Sportage faced the problem of increasing the force on the brake pedal.

The defect did not cause accidents and incidents, but, the intensity of braking may decrease due to the "ventilation" of the system.

Kia promises free troubleshooting for all 98,944 crossovers sold in the US market.
