“AMANOS sent an SOS signal 1.5 nautical miles from Mangalia city of Romania. The ship's crew appealed for help to the Romanian coast guard service, saying that the bow of the ship was broken and water was flooding in. Romanian rescue ships Fenics, Briso, and Teia immediately left for the location of the ship.
"However, the captain of AMANOS did not allow the Romanian rescuers to board his ship, refused help, and stated that the crew would repair the damage on their own, and then sail out to sea towards Bulgarian waters. It is not known what cargo the ship was carrying.
"Marinetraffic website notes that this cargo ship was built in 1978, information about the current owner of the ship is confidential. On August 14, the ship left the port of Izmail in the Odessa region of Ukraine, but the final destination has not noted," the media reported.
