Armenia will act based on its interests in the energy sector. Sargis Khandanyan, chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of Armenia’s National Assembly, told reporters in response to a question about Turkey’s concerns regarding the Metsamor Nuclear Power Station.
Earlier, Turkish media reported that the National Assembly of Turkey received appeals from citizens regarding the Armenian nuclear power plant. The parliament responded in letter, saying that the Turkish authorities have always kept the risk management of nuclear power plants under their attention and have informed the IAEA that the “Metsamor NPP poses a threat”.
“If I’m not mistaken, such appeals have been received in the past, more than once,” added the Sargis Khandanyan.
He reminded that the entire world is in transition to using nuclear energy, given the problem with hydrocarbon resources.
