Armenia abstained from the debates on two of the three resolutions which were submitted Thursday at the joint session of the standing committees of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly (PA), which was held in the format of a videoconference, Sputnik Belarus reported.

Three matters were put on the agenda: the draft recommendations on accountability for the restoration of Nazism and for the acts of distortion of the historical truth; the possible consequences of the use of depleted uranium ammunition; and the draft statement in the Canadian Parliament regarding the attempt to justify and encourage the SS Division “Galicia” of the Nazis. The last two resolutions were not approved by the Armenian parliamentarians.

Regarding the draft statement on the possible consequences of using uranium-containing projectiles, the representatives of the Armenian National Assembly expressed an opinion that the document is ambiguous, and some of its points do not correspond to the UN Security Council resolution of December 7, 2022.

In its turn, the CSTO PA Secretariat noted that in accordance with the regulations, the principle of consensus will be preserved in this case.

In the draft of the resolution, it was noted about the environmental, humanitarian, and man-made consequences that arise as a result of the radioactive pollution of the environment due to the use of ammunition containing depleted uranium.

To note, earlier such projectiles were used only by NATO countries. And some countries of this organization have provided uranium projectiles to Ukraine.
