The UN Security Council held a session regarding the downed Russian Il-76 military plane, in which there were Ukrainian prisoners of war.

Dmitry Polyanskiy, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, represented Russia in this meeting. He stated that the aforesaid plane could have been hit by the Ukrainian side using Western military equipment. Polyanskiy noted if this is confirmed, the Western countries will become accomplices of this crime.

Dmitry Polyanskiy concluded that Russia will do everything so that those responsible for the downing of this Il-76 receive the deserved punishment.

And Russian Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, speaking about the position of the West regarding the downing of this plane, said that there is no decisive condemnation from the Western countries, and the situation requires a proper assessment by the world community.

The aforementioned Russian military aircraft had crashed Wednesday morning, near Yablonovo village in the Belgorod Region of Russia.
