The armed forces of Armenia do not aim to compete with anyone, Armenian defense minister Suren Papikyan told a press conference Wednesday. Answering the question about the movements of the Azerbaijani army, Papikyan stated that he does not have such data.

He said that in today's situation, in the conditions of military operations in the world, the phrase "closed sky" is a relative concept.

Papikyan added that there are countries with modern air defense systems that cannot achieve this. Also, the defense minister highlighted the importance of Armenia's acquisition of air defense systems.

"But this is a long process. All countries, taking into account the modern nature of wars, set the task of increasing the number of such units in their armies. It is impossible to imagine a modern army without a component related to drones. Taking this into account, we [i.e. Armenia] need to work in this direction—which we are doing," Papikyan emphasized.
