YEREVAN. - In order to settle the situation in Syria, violence must be stopped and negotiations must be started, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov told on Monday during his meeting with Yerevan State University’s faculty and students.

Talking about the reasons of the Syrian crisis, the Russian FM mentioned that from the beginning the Syrian government made many mistakes and was late with the reforms.

“Demanding the resignation of the incumbent president and refusing dialogues is an unrealistic approach. Either people are hoping for help from outside, or it is a provocation,” Lavrov mentioned.
