YEREVAN. – Zhamanak (Time) newspaper has learned that the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) can in no way resolve the matter of issuing a document with respect to PM Karen Karapetyan’s permanent residence in Armenia for five years, which is needed for being on the RPA list—for the forthcoming parliamentary election—and being nominated an MP candidate, according to the Zhamanak.

“The existing [respective] legal grounds are very weak, and Karen Karapetyan has flatly refused the thought of being nominated an MP with any false document. He expressed willingness to assume the entire burden of the [RPA election] campaign, but to not resort to any fraud.

“There seems an agreement has been reached. Neither Karen Karapetyan nor [President and RPA Chairman] Serzh Sargsyan will be on the RPA [election] campaign list. (…). In this case, Serzh Sargsyan may head the RPA [election] campaign headquarters,” wrote Zhamanak.
