Iranian officials announced a two day of mourning for August 11 earthquake victims in East Azerbaijan province, ISNA agency reported.

According to Reuters, the death toll has reached 300, about 5,000 people were injured.

People left homeless settle in tent cities. Officials fear one of the aftershocks may be as devastating as the first two quakes. About 60 aftershocks have been registered so far, Lenta.ru reported.

As  Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, four quakes measured 6.2 to 6.6 jolted Iran’s north-west near the Armenian border.

The quakes were also followed by aftershocks measured 4.1 to 4.8 on the Richter scale. The tremors were felt also in the cities of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. A 4.5 magnitude tremor was registered in Armenia’s south and 3-4 magnitude in capital Yerevan.
