YEREVAN. – Statements by the Azerbaijani deputy FM Araz Azimov are attempts to distract attention from the Ramil Safarov case, expert Richard Giragosian told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

It is simply an attempt to show that Armenia is not a reliable partner in negotiation process,” Giragosian said. “The statement also may hint about the opening of the Stepanakert airport in Arstakh [Nagorno-Karabakh]. And if it opens next week as claimed by Arstakh side, than new intensification of an aggression by the Azerbaijani side is likely to be expected.”

To note, Azimov stated that Azerbaijan has allegedly initiated a talk process which Armenia has rejected. In this connection, Azimov had claimed about the failed dialogue between the ‘Azerbaijanis of Nagorno-Karabakh and their Armenian neighbors.’
