Instead of contemplating on the prospects for European Union (EU) accession, Armenia ought to consider the country’s interests in broader terms.

Director Mateusz Piskorski of the European Center of Geopolitical Analysis told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am, and he stated that Brussels is not interested in this.

“Considering the interests of Armenia, these should to be taken into account: First of all, partnership and serious plans should not be discussed while offering an asymmetric visa system at the same time. Second, the ‘soft power’ of the EU cannot guarantee the security of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh,” the political scientist noted.

Piskorski added that Armenians do not need a policy of European values, but rather a real assistance to the infrastructural projects.

In his words, however, the EU cannot ensure the abovementioned due to the economic crisis.

“So, the [Armenia-EU] Association Agreement is a step which first has a symbolic importance,” Mateusz Piskorski concluded.
