YEREVAN. – Armenian-populated Kessab is under influence of “psychological terror” from the Turkish side, Hayk Demoyan believes.

Demoyan, director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, is convinced that terrorist acts in Kessab are definitely sponsored by Turkey.

“These actions contain terrorist elements, especially psychological one. Successor of the country that committed genocide continues the same genocidal actions. The main goal of Turkey is psychological terror against all Armenians. In addition,  Turkey wants to find out how consolidated the Armenians are in condemnation of the Genocide. They want to check the Armenian potential to achieve a condemning statement on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide,” Demoyan told reporters on Friday.

On March 21, armed militants from the Jabhat al-Nusra Islamic terrorist group infiltrated into northern Syria’s Latakia Governorate. Two large groups of terrorists had launched the attack from Turkey. About 600 Kessab-Armenian families were initially sheltered in Latakia city. A group of Armenia parliament members had visited Syria to assess the situation in the region.
