YEREVAN. – Armenia and Lithuania plan to strengthen relations in defense sector, Minister Seyran Ohanyan said.

The Minister said high-level dialogue based on the willingness of the parties to promote cooperation is developing between the states (photo).

Ohanyan described as effective talks with his Lithuanian counterpart Juozas Olekas .During the meeting they discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, issues of regional and international importance .

Armenian Defense Minister noted that the sides expressed mutual confidence that it is necessary to comply with international principles of non-use of force in order to overcome the challenges and solve security problems. The Minister also noted that the parties agreed to develop relations in defense sector.

In turn Lithuania's Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas said that this is his second visit to Armenia as the head of the defense department. He said that Europe is faced with a different situation related to security, and in this context the parties exchanged views on Ukrainian developments and their impact on the situation in Europe.

The Lithuanian Minister assured that his country attaches great importance to developing relations with the member states of Eastern Partnership project. The Lithuanian side also appreciates Armenia's participation in international peacekeeping missions.
