YEREVAN. – It does not matter how the world will understand Erdogan’s words; but it is important that it is correctly deduced in Armenia.

Giro Manoyan, Head of the Political Affairs Bureau and the Armenian Cause Office of the Armenian opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He commented on Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s address that was issued on the eve of the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

In his address, Erdogan spoke about the difficult times that befell all peoples of the Ottoman Empire toward the latter’s final years, and extended his condolences to the progenies of the Armenians who were killed in those years. And Hürriyet daily of Turkey reported that the Turkish government plans to grant Turkish citizenship to the descendants of the Armenian Genocide victims and survivors.

“We have repeatedly stated that Turkey will make such imitation statements on the threshold of the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. This is one such step; a bubble which will live for one or two days,” Manoyan said.

In his view, the international community will not have a shared viewpoint on Erdogan’s address.

“Each will perceive Erdogan’s statement as it is convenient for it. But the main thing is that we [Armenians] have a better understanding of this statement,” Giro Manoyan added.
