Azerbaijan’s late President Heydar Aliyev was purposefully changing the demographic situation in Nagorno-Karabakh by populating this area, too, with Azerbaijanis.

Ruling New Azerbaijan Party Political Board member Ahabek Askerov confessed the aforementioned to Haqqin.az.
As per Askerov, Aliyev had begun creating an “Azerbaijan” since the Soviet times.

“What’s important is that he was able to change the demographic picture of [capital city] Baku. Do you know what percentage of the Azerbaijanis lived in Baku? I’ll tell you: 40 percent.

“Sadly, [however,] he could not finish his political mission, since very weak people headed the republic after him, and they destroyed his political legacy,” the Azerbaijan ruling party official stated.
