YEREVAN. – The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin gave a negative response to the reports on a “party” held at Zvartnots cathedral ruins.

Conduction of events at sacred sites is unacceptable and must be condemned, spokesperson for the  Mother See Rev. Vahram Melikyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to media reports, a party was held at Zvartnots cathedral ruins. The site “was rented” by Temp Ventures company for a contest and reception with the participation of Armenian and Russian businessmen. The media said Troyka Dialog company was an organizer of the party.

“It is very said that this happened near Zvartnots ruins. For us, the cathedral ruins were and remain a sacred place. Echmiadzin has never opposed holding of spiritual and cultural activities in historic temples and churches. However, the Holy See does not accept expediency of permitting such activities,” Melikyan said.
