Concocted charges have been brought against Russian-Armenian businessman and benefactor Levon Hayrapetyan, who is originally from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

Hayrapetyan’s friend Artur Safaryan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Hayrapetyan’s attorneys are convinced that there is no basis for the charges. Incidentally, these articles stipulate up to ten years in prison, but they are forgetting that pursuant to the RF [Russian Federation] law, such an ill person should not be kept in custody. Now, the attorneys are working towards commuting the restraining order of arrest,” Safaryan specifically added.

Levon Hayrapetyan, 65, was detained in a Moscow airport on July 15, and subsequently arrested. On Thursday, July 24, the Russian Federation Investigation Committee brought two criminal charges against him; the charges are embezzlement or misuse, and money laundering.
