YEREVAN. – The government gave positive assessments of the bill on border villages proposed by opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan.

However, the government's conclusion said the Cabinet itself and MPs presented similar initiatives that should be discussed together with the bill.

The draft bill was designed as a result of Pashinyan’s discussions held and agreements reached with the local residents, during his visits to a number of border communities in July and in August.

The bill envisions provision of several privileges for the residents of Armenia’s border villages: 50%- discount on gas, electricity, drinking and irrigation water. It is offered to  completely exempt the locals from taxes on land and property.

People affected by the actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces or hit a mine, should receive medical treatment free of charge.
