YEREVAN. – Independence means the absence of the “little brother” syndrome. Opposition Armenian National Congress National Assembly (ANC NA) Faction Secretary Aram Manukyan told the aforementioned to reporters on Saturday.

He stressed that independence is an undisputed phenomenon.

“We cannot think that we cannot survive without a master. It should be realized that our destiny is in our hands,” Manukyan stated.

The ANC NA member added that in September 1991, Armenia had declared its independence in full compliance with the laws of the former Soviet Union, and the national referendum became the basis for Armenia’s secession from the ex-USSR.

“This referendum was not only one of the most legitimate ones, but one of the most peaceful; and this was our achievement, too.

“We [Armenia] achieved independence not solely with our will, but mind,” Aram Manukyan concluded.
