YEREVAN. – The European Union parliamentarians respect Armenia’s decision to join the Eurasian Economic Union.

Armenian National Assembly (NA) Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov stated the aforesaid at the NA on Monday, commenting on the Armenian delegation’s participation in the 131st Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, which was convened recently in Geneva, Switzerland.  

Within the framework of this event, the Armenian delegation also met separately with the President of the German Bundestag (Parliament), the First Vice President of the Swiss Council of States, the Greek and Estonian delegation members, and the former President of the Cypriot House of Representatives.     

“Our colleagues see an opportunity for the development of relations.

“We noted that Armenia stands ready to continue the political discourse in all possible directions,” Sharmazanov specifically said.

Armenia signed, on October 10 in the Belarusian capital city of Minsk, the treaty on accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.
