The Europress journalists’ union of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, has issued a statement and strongly condemned the recent blasting of the Holy Martyrs Armenian Church in Deir ez-Zor, Syria, informed the Voice of the Benevolent Armenian biweekly of Plovdiv.

The statement noted that the Armenian church in Deir ez-Zor presents a sacred value for the Armenian nation.

It also stressed the fact that millions of Christians and gentiles are subjected to violence in Iraq and in Syria, and they go into exile today, just as the Armenian nation had had the same fate one hundred years ago, in the Deir ez-Zor desert.

The persons behind this statement have sent it also to the central governing body of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, and expressed the hope that this union as well as the National Interreligious Center of Bulgaria likewise will denounce the destruction of this Armenian church in Syria.
