ALEPPO. – The Armenian community in Syria, just like the rest of the population in the country, is facing heating-related difficulties at the threshold of the coming winter season. 

The Press Secretary of the National Prelacy of Aleppo of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Jirair Reisian, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The residents of Aleppo are having economic hardships and, very often, they are unable to purchase the 200 liters of fuel which the state provides to each family,” Reisian noted.   

He added that the situation is complicated also in the supply of electricity, which is often cut off and, as a result, water supply likewise is often interrupted.  

Before the start of the bloody events in Syria, around 60 to 70 thousand Armenians lived in the country, and more than half of them resided in Aleppo.
