YEREVAN. – Dollar rate leap will not make Armenian houses more attractive for American Armenians, economist Gagik Makaryan believes.

Although dollar rate went up and increased the purchasing power of the dollar savings in AMD, but American Armenians will hardly decide to take advantage of this to buy apartments.

Head of Armenia-based real estate agency Hakob Baghdasaryan said the price for apartments in dollars will not change.

Armenian-Americans, Makaryan said, are divided into two groups. Western Armenians in general, are relatively prosperous, but very conservative in buying real estate. Among the new immigrants, natives of Armenia, there are more people willing to buy a house at home, but they have lower income.

“So, there is no hope for a special rush of the customers,” he added.
