Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who is on an official visit to Sweden, on Tuesday met with Speaker Urban Ahlin of the Swedish Riksdag (Parliament).

Nalbandian noted that Armenian-Swedish relations are distinguished by their open and constructive political dialogue, and the willingness to further strengthen relations.

They underscored the activities of the friendship groups in the parliaments of the two countries.

Nalbandian and Ahlin also highlighted the need for closer cooperation within international organizations and their parliamentary assemblies.

In addition, the Armenian FM and the Swedish parliament leader exchanged views on the steps to be taken to develop mutual relations in a variety of domains.

Furthermore, the interlocutors conferred on Armenia-European Union (EU) relations, the Ukrainian crisis, developments taking place in the Middle East, and the ongoing talks on Iran’s nuclear program.

Separately, a working dinner was held at the Riksdag, and in honor of the Armenian FM. Nalbandian noted that Armenia gives emphasis to parliamentary diplomacy as a format of productive cooperation between countries and peoples.

At his meeting with the Swedish MPs, Edward Nalbandian presented the ongoing efforts to achieve a pacific settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the process of Armenia’s accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union, and Armenia-EU cooperation.
