YEREVAN. – The Armenian-Czech interparliamentary ties developed effectively in the year past.

Armenian National Assembly (NA) Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, who is also Head of the NA Armenia-Czech Republic Friendship Group, stated the aforesaid during his talk Thursday with Czech Ambassador Petr Mikiska.

Sharmazanov expressed the hope that these relations will further strengthen and expand in the current year, the NA press service informed. He stressed that 2015 is an important year for Armenians, as numerous events are planned in Armenia and the Armenian diaspora, and devoted to the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.

The parliament deputy speaker also reflected on Azerbaijan’s most recent violations of the ceasefire. He highlighted that the latest statement by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs was clearly addressed to Azerbaijan urging it to adhere to the ceasefire. Sharmazanov reiterated that the Armenian authorities hold the view that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be resolved solely by way of peace, and within the format of the three co-chairs of the Minsk Group.

The interlocutors also discussed the avenues for the further development of Armenian-Czech parliamentary relations, and more active mutual visits between the parliamentary delegations of the two countries.
