Armenia will be monitored for the first time by the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances (UN CED), whose session will be convened between February 2 and 13.

The committee, which comprises ten independent international experts on human rights issues, monitors the course of implementation of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance (ICCPED).

Armenia is one of the 44 countries to ratify this convention, and therefore the CED is obligated to present a report within the framework of a monitoring.

Accordingly, on February 3 and 4, the CED will conduct a constructive discourse with the Government of Armenia; the talks will be held in Geneva, Switzerland.

And on February 13, the CED will publicize its final observations regarding Armenia as well as Mexico and Serbia, the other two countries to be monitored at the February session.
