YEREVAN. – Orders for Armenia-made tablets have been received from France, the United States and Ecuador, Technology and Science Dynamics President Vahan Shakaryan told Armenian New-NEWS.am.

The company is one of the participants of “Made in Armenia” exhibition that is held in Yerevan on April 26-28 and is organized by the Ministry of Economy.

Mr. Shakaryan stressed that the company plans to produce tablets not for the broader market, since it is meaningless to compete with Samsung or Apple when it comes to mass production. The company is focused on individual orders instead.

For example, an order for 8,000 tablets was received from France with special software that is different from conventional programs on Android.

“We are completing the development of software for them. They are not interested in the conventional tablet functions. They need it as a tool for a specific job, and we will solve this problem,” he said.

Another order came from the hotel complex in the United States, another from the school system in Ecuador, where the civil servants in the field of education want tablets for school children that would not have access to the Internet and cameras. There are several books in Spanish that need to be installed on devices.

So there is no lack of orders, and the company already employs about 100 people, said Shakaryan.

The Armenian developers are working to change soft stuffing, and layout details. For example, it is possible to design them differently to make the tablet cheaper.

In other words, if Armenian tablets are not being sold in Yerevan stores, this does not mean that the project has failed.

“We felt that it is not necessary to produce for example one thousand tablets and try to compete with the established giants. It is better to produced one thousand for targeted customers,” Shakaryan resumed.
