STEPANAKERT. - Observers from Europe and the United States will watch the Parliamentary elections in Karabakh on Sunday, Central Electoral Commission head Srbuhi Arzumanyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am during the press-conference in Karabakh. Altogether, the elections will be watched by 110 observers.  

According to Arzumanyan, 42 and 164 candidates will contest for 33 seats in Karabakh Parlaiament by majority and proportional representation systems respectively. 22.2 per cent of MP candidates are women. Arzumanyan also said that compared to the last year’s parliamentary elections, the number of those willing to take part in the election campaign has doubled. 

The CEC head said 101 653 people have got the right to vote in tomorrow’s elections:   “I must say that the number of people having the right to vote has also increased by 3135. This means that tomorrow 68 per cent of Karabakh citizens will take part in the elections.”

She also expressed hope that the electors will be active, taking into account that during the last parliamentary elections voter turnout amounted to 67,8 per cent.
