The Nagorno-Karabakh parliamentary elections are being held in peace, without incidents, and in keeping with international standards.

Election observer Ersi Koi, who has arrived from Greece to monitor Sunday’s voting in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh), told the abovementioned to reporters on the same day.

Koi noted, however, that she had come to this conclusion by visiting nine election precincts in NKR capital city Stepanakert, and therefore she cannot speak about the entire voting process throughout the country.

“I’ve been to just several [polling] stations; the process was well underway [there],” she said. “We are happy to have seen so much.”

The Greek observer added that even though many countries do not recognize these elections, it is important that the electoral process is going well.

Ersi Koi, who has been to Artsakh for the first time, also said she is impressed by its sights.

“I’m very impressed with the country’s beauty,” she added, in particular.

A total of 110 observers from a variety of countries are monitoring Sunday’s parliamentary election in the NKR. Seven political parties are running for the country’s 33 parliamentary seats by the proportional system. In addition, fifty individuals, 27 of whom self-nominated, are vying for the parliamentary mandates by the majority system.
