YEREVAN. – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, and a delegation of MPs will soon travel to Syria, said Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

In her words, the delegation will get acquainted on location with the situation of the Armenians living in Syria, and find out what kind of assistance can be rendered.

As per the minister, the condition of the residents of Aleppo has slightly improved, and electricity and water supply has been restored. Despite all the difficulties, some Armenians have decided not to leave the city. Others, however, have moved to safer regions in Syria.

To note, the Islamic State is shelling capital city Damascus in recent days.

“Relatively few Armenians live in Damascus,” Hakobyan said. “But, naturally, the situation worries us.”
