YEREVAN. – Executive Director of the Hayastan (Armenia) All-Armenian Fund, Ara Vardanyan, believes that years ago Diaspora Armenians were guided by emotions when making donations.

Before the start of Wednesday’s 24th joint meeting of the Board of Trustees and the local agencies of the aforesaid fund, reporters asked Vardanyan to what extent are the Diaspora Armenians interested in helping Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh).

“Fifteen to twenty years ago, during the first years of independence, the fundraising of the Diaspora Armenians was emotional,” Ara Vardanyan said. “[But] today, daily work is needed, since it is hard to imagine for a Diaspora Armenian that there are villages, outside the airport and Yerevan city, which have a water problem to this day.”

Session of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is convened at the Reception House of the Government of Armenia. The event has brought together the Presidents of Armenia and the NKR as well as the 24 members of the Board of Trustees. At the meeting, Ara Vardanyan will present the fund’s Executive Board report on the activities carried out in 2014.
