Alyona Sterligova, the wife of the Russian businessman German Sterligov told about the detention of her husband in Russia’s Domodedovo Airport. According to her, they arrived in Moscow from Yerevan on Monday at 4:40 p.m. to resolve certain issues related to their agricultural business. She passed the control without problems, but her husband was detained.

“He was detained and not allowed to go out of the airport. I was released after border control, but this was not the case with him. Two hours have passed and he hasn’t turned up yet,” Sterligova said, Zvezda reports.

The Russian businessman German Sterligov was detained on Monday at the border control in Moscow’s Domodedovo airport, the businessman’s attorney Arthur Hayrapetov said. According to him, this was most probably the result of not an international but an interstate search in the framework of the CIS.

Earlier, Sterligov’s persecution by Interpol was stopped. The businessman had been on the Interpol’s wanted list since 28 July 2015. His search was initiated by Azerbaijan after Sterligov left for Karabakh with his family. Azerbaijan insisted that the businessman had crossed the border of the country illegally.

Official Baku declared German Sterligov persona non grata and blacklisted him, banning his entrance to the country. Several weeks later, a criminal charges were brought against the businessman in Azerbaijan.

At the moment, Sterligov’s attorneys are preparing an application to file with the European Court of Human Rights.
