The Russian President’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, dismissed the media reports that Russia was preparing for a ground operation in Syria, reported Interfax news agency.

“They could have made a mistake at CNN,” he said. “They had even mistaken [incumbent Russian President Vladimir] Putin with [former President, the late Boris] Yeltsin.”

Peskov added that he can once again recall Putin’s words that Russia will not take part in a ground operation in Syria.

The CNN, citing its sources at the Pentagon, had announced that Russia may be preparing for a limited ground operation in Syria.
