Brazilian Christian Pierini, also known as Mister C, recreates portraits of music, science and technology celebrities from electronic scrap, musical instruments and trash.

For this purpose he uses everything starting from keyboard keys, motherboards, amplifiers, cables to vinyl records, old newspapers and journals.

“I’m a musician and often work in concert halls. One day I decided to honor some icons representing them with objects related to their own works. I developed this technique working for two years as an assistant to the famous artist Vik Muniz..

Pierini assembles the portraits of the celebrities on the floor. The Brazilian treats each of them very scrupulously. The creation of one image takes him about a month.

The challenge is to insert some elements of academic drawing – such as volume and clear–dark - in the images using electronic objects. The hardest thing to do was to create the portrait of Albert Einstein due to the complexity of detail in the face and white hair.”

Mister C was born and grew up on the beach in the hot sun of the sensory Rio de Janeiro.  He graduated from the Methodist Bennett Institute and today ministers his own workshop of visual art. At the same time, together with his family the Brazilian manages a theatre in the western part of the city. Besides, he has a special agreement with the city of Rio de Janeiro prefecture on organizing different shows and theatre pieces.

My philosophical basis of life is the book “Universe in Disenchantment, Rational Culture”. My work reflects the decline of postmodern civilization through the [culture of] exacerbated consumption. I try to live in a humble way, just working with what I have a passion for.”

At the weekends, Pierini plays drums and mandolin in his band, Black Dog Brazil, which is the official Brazilian tribute band "Led Zeppelin." Established in 1995 in Rio de Janeiro, the band immediately attracted the co-thinkers and fans of “Led Zeppelin’s” works in South America.

Apart from all this, the Brazilian is fond of travelling and accepts invitations with pleasure, he told Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

I am fond of knowing others’ cultures. Here, in Brazil, we are bombarded by the Western customs carried by the American cultural industry.”
