YEREVAN. – The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign got underway Wednesday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The acting UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, Garik Hayrapetyan, opened the event and noted that violence against women and girls not only destroys their families and lives, but also jeopardizes the economic and social progress of an entire society.

And as per Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Filaret Berikyan, first and foremost, gender equality is human rights.
