YEREVAN. – An indoor football tournament devoted to the 44th anniversary of the National Day of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was held Sunday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

Teams from the embassies of the UAE and Egypt, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Office in Yerevan, and several other diplomatic organizations competed in this tournament (PHOTOS).

The OSCE representatives’ team won the tournament by defeating the Armenian MFA squad 3-1 in the final.

UAE Ambassador to Armenia Jassim Mohammed Mubarak Al Qasimi, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ashot Hovakimian were on hand at the ensuing award ceremony.

Ambassador Al Qasimi spoke to Armenian News-NEWS.am and underscored the holding of such events. 

The diplomat noted that such sports events contribute to establishing relations and strengthening friendship between various embassies and organizations. 

He stated that it is very important to meet with a variety of organizations in an informal format as well, and expressed the hope that such events will continue.
