On April 28 high ranked officials of the US military command structure in Europe and NATO began to study the capacity of the Batumi port, reported the Georgian Ministry of Defence. The delegation is headed by the commander of the US forces in Europe, Lt. Gen. Frederick Ben Hodges , whom the head of the Georgian Headquarters, Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze, met on the site.

The representatives of the Geprgian Defence Ministry presented the logistical and infrastructural opportunities of the port for bilateral and multinational trainings. In addition, the US plans to land the US armored equipment that will arrive in Bulgaria in May for the joint exercises with the Georgian army.

“This is a very important visit. We study the capacities of the Black Sea naval ports to enlarge our cooperation,” said Vakhtang Kapanadze , reported the Vzglyad .

"We look at how quickly we can land our equipment, said the American military commander. According to him, the US Army tank company gets from Bulgaria to Georgia through Batumi. A year ago similar trainings were conducted in Geprgia.  They will be larger for this time.
