Astronomers have discovered three planets, which have sizes and temperatures similar to those of Venus and Earth.

Michael Gillon of the University of Liège, together with a group of astronomers, followed, using the TRAPPIST telescope, the 2MASS J23062928-0502285 star, now known as TRAPPIST-1, according to In Space.

The scientists observed this cold and dull star’s infrared signal fade slightly at regular intervals, suggesting that several objects were passing in front of the star.

With further observations, the team confirmed that three planets, with similar sizes to Earth and Venus, were orbiting around this star.

The two innermost planets orbit the star in 1.5 and 2.4 days, and the third planet may orbit the star in anywhere from 4.5 to 70 days.
