The U.S. politics in the Middle East brought to the region only chaos and destructions, Fred Hiatt wrote in an article for The Washington Post.

As it is noted, the U.S. President Barack Obama has tried different approaches in the Middle East: massive invasion, in Iraq; surgical intervention, in Libya; studied aloofness, in Syria. Three approaches, same result: chaos and destruction.

From the very beginning Obama hasn't intended to follow the path of long-term and patient use of military and diplomatic tools without fixed terms. According to the author, such an approach is successful as this is visible on the example of actions of the U.S. in the Republic of Korea.

The author writes that instead of this way Obama preferred to set a timetable for troop withdrawal from Afghanistan without reference to the situation in the country, to decline to keep in Iraq  the 15,000 or 20,000 troops that can have help preserve the stability, to bomb the Gaddafi regime in Libya without helping a new government get on its feet

However, the next U.S. president should change policy in the Middle East. Blossoming terrorist group Islamic State complicates a situation and spreads devastation already in Europe, and sooner or later it will reach also the United States.
