Nearly 64 thousand people in the Japanese prefecture Kumamoto are advised to evacuate due to the threat of landslides , reported RIA Novosti with a reference to the NHK.

In April a series of strong 7 and 6 magnitude earthquakes occurred in the prefecture, and the ground shook with tremors. There have been  prolonged heavy rainfalls since mid-July. On Monday six people died in Kumamoto due to landslides caused by rainfalls. The forecasters acknowledged a record level of precipitation that fell here on Monday and Tuesday - up to 150 millimeters per hour . Such an intensity of showers can be observed here only once in every few years .

According to the TV channel, 400 to 700 millimeters of precipitation fell on some regions of the island of Kyushu , where Kumamoto is located. The level of rivers rose; the  risk of landslides increased. There are intense rains in the north of Japan, Hokkaido, as well . It is likely that 120 millimeters of precipitation will fall here until Sunday morning.  Meteorologists call on keep cautious  due to growing threat of flooding and landslides .
