After Pope Francis’ visit to Dirmayar Hayastan education complex of Gyumri’s Congregation of the Armenian Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, Gayane Avoyan, one of the institution’s workers, asked the pontiff to leave a signature on her badge.

With a face glittering with happiness, the woman shows her badge and says: “I wonder how many “likes” I will get for it!”

During his visit to Diramayr Hayatsan, Pope Francis had lunch with the staff. By the end of the visit, the Pontiff took a photo with the children, benefactors and former students of the Center, who had come to the meeting with their own children.

The construction of the educational center kicked off in 1996, the official opening taking place two years later. The institution is entirely the gift of Robert Boghossian and Sons Foundation.

The aim of the center is to gather orphans and socially vulnerable children and give them care.

The center currently has 37 children, who live there on a daily basis.
