YEREVAN. – Arman Tatoyan, Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia, on Thursday met in Geneva, Switzerland, with Marie-Pierre Poirier, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of the Independent States.

The ombudsman’s office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the interlocutors underscored the need for Armenia’s ombudsman to carry out active preventive measures toward protecting children’s rights in the country. They also highlighted the necessity to work on the basis of the concept of “the child’s best interest.”

Separately, Tatoyan drew attention to the high level of cooperation between the Office of the Human Rights Defender and UNICEF Armenia.

They also agreed to continue active collaboration.
